Our Litigation, Arbitration and Regulatory practice is looking for a Case Manager to carry out case/project management functions and responsibilities using acquired knowledge and skills, and to assist the legal team, clients and other parties with all aspects of litigation/investigation matters. This is to add to a very busy team with an expanding workload.

Key Responsibilities
Specific tasks will vary according to the project management requirements of each case/project but may include some of the key areas below:

Case Management tasks:
Attending initial meetings with associates and clients once assigned to the case
Ensuring (in consultation with the Paralegal Manager) that there is adequate paralegal assistance as required (including agency paralegals where necessary) and that adequate space/IT is available for the work to be carried out
Instructing and supervising other paralegals working on the case to ensure instructions are understood and carried out correctly
Gaining a comprehensive knowledge of the documents of the case so that urgent requests for documents can be dealt with efficiently
Training/monitoring other members of the team including associates and trainee solicitors
Supervising on-going projects to ensure their satisfactory and timely completion
Liaising with people of all levels from other internal support departments, clients, Counsel, Judges and Judges' Clerks
Providing factual overviews/analysis, status reports and monthly synopses of developments.
Considering the use of the Knowledge Centre in document reviews
Taking responsibility for co-ordination of the creation of lists of documents, bundles etc in connection with disclosure, interlocutory hearings and trial preparation
Dealing with billing and invoices and costs assessment queries

E Discovery Responsibilities
Central point of contact for all data collection and database issues
Liaising with the client and legal team with regard to the identification and forensic recovery of stored data and the preservation of data
Where appropriate drafting/costing and presenting database proposal for client
Liaising with client to understand IT infrastructure and environments in order to produce a report of findings (investigations)
Consideration and knowledge of data protection issues
Identifying the most appropriate software to manage the case documentation
Advising on the requirements for the set-up and management of databases
Working with the legal team to devise the best data filtering processes including keyword lists, relevant dates and custodians.
Considering the use of the Knowledge Centre in document reviews.
Disclosure review planning (Disclosure Continuous Improvement process).
Management of review process and preparation of review protocols
Management of disclosure productions and reports to regulatory authorities
Audit trail management: preparing data source and collections schedules; ongoing audit trail document.
Ongoing review and updates regarding the technology used and the forensic recovery of stored data
Liaising with third party specialists regarding document and data analysis issues
Investigating and advising on various trial technology

Skills and Qualifications
Excellent IT skills including an excellent understanding of litigation support databases in general and specifically E Discovery Tools, Global RPM, Relativity, Documatrix.
An understanding of the processes involved in finding and recovering data
An ability to understand and manipulate various data formats, such as ASCII delimited files
The confidence and experience to quickly understand and use new software tools introduced to the department
An understanding of the issues arising in working with electronic files, such as duplication, unknown file types and redaction.
Trial experience - preparing bundles, managing updates and working with various trial technologies including presentation systems, transcript technology and video conferencing
The ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, with people at all levels
Proven track record of management, organisational, delegation, time management and supervisory skills
Excellent influencing and persuasion skills
A strong knowledge and understanding of English civil procedure
The ability to learn quickly and be pro-actively
