Insurance - 3+ years' pqe - Job Description
We have one of the largest insurance and reinsurance practices in the country covering contentious and non-contentious matters. Our expertise is widely recognised, as noted in the Chambers Guide where we are described as "top rank" and "hugely respected".
The Property and Casualty Risks practice group is part of the firm’s wider insurance department. The group are currently seeking additional lawyers (3 + years pqe) who have a good grounding in insurance work to join the department. Working under the supervision of partners and senior lawyers, these roles involves high quality insurance work for established clients.
The department’s work includes:
Property insurance
Our property insurance team draws on the expertise of over 30 lawyers and acts for London market and international underwriters on a wide range of issues/disputes. In addition to advising on coverage and adjustment issues, the team handles significant numbers of subrogated recoveries.
Product liability
We advise insurers and reinsurers, manufacturers and suppliers on all issues arising from product liability and product recall claims including coverage, defence and recovery.We currently handle claims across a broad range of industries including agriculture/horticulture, automotive, building/construction, chemicals, food/drink, energy, engineering, packaging, pharmaceutical/medical/health, paint and lacquer, telecoms and textiles.Our service covers both UK and internationally-based risks and our expert team includes specialist adjusters with particular expertise in product liability and recall claims.
Energy
We advise on first and third party liabilities arising out of the operation of energy facilities all over the world. We also advise the insurers and reinsures of energy operations on underwriting and claims issues connected to energy risks. We routinely work with foreign lawyers in defending claims in other jurisdictions and use our understanding of the industry to the achieve the best outcome for our clients.
Position requirements:
3 + years’ pqe
A strong City background in insurance work is desirable. Also important, but perhaps not essential, is experience in property insurance claims, product liability claims, energy claims and/or good quality insurance work.
