The role:

Resolving disputes by litigation, arbitration and alternative dispute resolution is a vital part of corporate risk management and strategy. The globalisation of business and the expansion of the European single market are resulting in more cross-border disputes requiring high quality, co-ordinated advice. In addition, the increasing complexity of regulation at both national and European levels has given rise to a need for solutions not only in a commercial context but also in the regulatory sphere.

We are leaders in:
• domestic commercial litigation;
• large-scale multijurisdictional litigation;
• European and international law disputes;
• international and domestic arbitration;
• mediation and other forms of alternative dispute resolution; and
• negotiation with, and advocacy concerning, regulatory and government agencies.

Our work includes a broad range of commercial disputes and work in specialist areas such as banking, financial services and securities, construction and engineering, energy, EU and antitrust, environmental, planning and regulatory, fraud, human rights, insurance and reinsurance law, intellectual property and information technology, international arbitration, product liability, professional negligence, property, public international law, and restructuring and insolvency.

We are currently looking for lawyers to join our international arbitration group (IAG). This group is widely recognised as the world’s leading practice in the area of international arbitration. The team includes some of the world’s best known practitioners conducting some of the largest, most complex and high-profile arbitrations in the market. The group includes specialists in all areas of commercial and investor/state arbitrations, and in all the major industry sectors most relevant to international arbitration including corporate, construction, energy, financial services, telecommunications and public services.

As an International Arbitration Associate your main responsibilities will involve:

• Manage document reviews
• Draft complex witness statements, expert reports and pleadings
• Run, as the Lead Associate, project processes on significant cases
• Draft letters/emails to client/other side
• Attend mediation/settlement discussions and draft settlement agreements
• Formulate case strategy
• Delegate and mentor junior associates and trainees
• Participate and present at seminars/training to clients and other associates and work with our Business Development Manager to generate ideas/plans
• Establish profile and relationships with partners and clients


As an International Arbitration Associate your skills and qualifications will ideally include:

• High quality lawyer with strong technical and commercial background
• Intellectually strong with top class academics
• At least three years good experience at a leading law firm

• Strong technical and commercial abilities
