Knowledge Manager - Sydney - Job Description

About you:

We are looking for an experienced Knowledge Manager to join our Know How team in Sydney. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the centre Know How team and ensuring the effective delivery of high level research, information and knowledge management services to Know How clients. The successful candidate will manage the Sydney library and report to the Director of Know How.

Your day will involve:

- overseeing and participating in firmwide and practice team specific research deliveries to lawyers and shared services groups including working closely with the practice teams to identify their knowledge and information needs are met
- managing the library and the delivery of the firm’s Know How strategy, including budgets, purchasing and staff
- developing a cohesive, effective and enthusiastic team and ensuring the team's skills and knowledge continues to expand and be built upon
- leading and participating in the training portfolio for Know How firmwide to ensure all staff members are self-sufficient where appropriate
- developing training modules for all aspects of legal and business research
- recruiting new staff ensuring head count and a quality mix of skills are correct for the team
- supporting and enhancing the knowledge tools by ensuring lawyers are made aware of the tools available and ensuring they are utilised
- undertaking projects and tasks as required by Director Know How as part of the firmwide implementation of Know How strategy
- other responsibilities as set out in the position description.

You will have:

- a degree in Library/Information Science or Law (eligible for professional membership of ALIA or equivalent)
- management experience in a professional services firm
- outstanding written, oral, analytical and problem solving skills
- the ability to be part of and manage a team including leading change
- advanced knowledge and understanding of paper and electronic legal research resources, information retrieval and knowledge management principals and methodologies, plus the potential of emerging technologies to facilitate information sharing and dissemination
- a flexible nature and will be a quick learner.
