Investment/Funds lawyer - Job Description
Job Purpose:
The purpose of this role is to co-ordinate and facilitate the legal work of the Global Product Range, leveraging off the UK & Ireland legal teams and to ensure that the company fulfils its obligations both legally and ethically in a cost-effective manner.
Key Responsibilities:
1 Work effectively with all businesses to best meet their legal needs through active communication, cooperation and facilitation
2 To identify and work towards minimization of legal risk across the organisation and to implement, coordinate and whenever necessary manage preventive internal controls in such a way as to remain in compliance with the rules in force
3 To ensure the performance of legal work when needed and the retention and supervision of outside counsel as appropriate
4 Resolve regulatory matters and be aware of regulatory developments affecting our Company and funds, particularly as relates to the Irish and Luxembourg regulators
5 Participate in investment product development initiatives, draft and comment on contracts / agreements and any other legal work related Global Product Range
6 Advise the business on cross-border issues and manage cross-border transactions / initiatives.

Experience, Knowledge and Qualifications required for Job:
Experience
- Must have relevant investment management experience, some of which must have been gained at a leading Irish law firm or financial services company (preferably in the fund management industry)
- Experience in conducting cross functional projects within a multicultural environment
Knowledge
- Comprehensive funds knowledge preferred
- In-depth knowledge of UCITS III and other European directives
- Working knowledge of the various regulatory bodies (e.g., IFSRA, FSA, etc.)
- Firm grasp of the European funds market and a keen interest in our business
- Ability to develop effective working relations and to mentor a team are crucial to success in role
- PC literate
Qualifications
- Irish qualified, with funds experience essential
