Lawyers, Non-Contentious Insurance - Job Description
The Corporate Insurance team advises on corporate transactions within the insurance industry in the UK and internationally, as well as advising on the regulation of insurance companies and groups. Most of the lawyers engaged on corporate insurance work also undertake a wider variety of corporate and corporate finance work. The group has been involved in many of the most significant transactions within the UK insurance industry in recent years including advising on the demerger and London listing of AMP's northern hemisphere operations, the sale of the Churchill general insurance business by Winterthur/Credit Suisse to the Royal Bank of Scotland, the acquisition of various Ace reinsurance business in the UK, US and Belgium by Randall & Quilts, the acquisitions of group life business by UnumProvident from Sun Life of Canada and Swiss Life (UK) and the acquisition by Swiss Re of Life Assurance Holding Corporation Limited and a closed book of business from Zurich Life Assurance Company Limited.
Legal 500 and Chambers Directory have consistently ranked Lovells' Corporate Insurance team among the market leaders for a number of years. The Corporate Insurance team won the Legal Business Award in February 2000 for Insurance Team of the Year for its work on the NPI acquisition.
Within the insurance section, we are seeking approximately 2 – 5 years' qualified (or with similar experience) corporate lawyers with financial services/insurance experience or transactional and regulatory experience in the insurance sector.
