Legal Counsel

An outstanding opportunity has arisen with one of our clients an International Bank to join as Legal Counsel within their Institutional Banking Group. The role will report directly into the Head of Lending and Transactional Products.

This team provides legal advice and documentation support to the business units within the banks Corporate and Institutional Banking and Global Transactional Banking areas. The Groups work focuses on various lending and transactional banking products which are offered to their customers including multinantional and major Australian corporates, and other banks and financial institutions.

The role offers a varied workload, working in a focused team environment.

Key Responsibilities to include:

-To advise, document and assist in development and negotiation of transactions (including lending, transactional product, variation and recovery) in compliance with laws, policies and requirements
-To keep up to date with relevant laws, product and credit policies and compliance and legal unit requirements
-To maintain active professional relationships with key clients and lawyers both internally and externally
-To contribute towards improvements of process, knowledge and documentation within the legal group

They are looking for candidates with a minimum of 2 years PQE and specific knowledge of: laws relating to banking and finance transactions, project finance transactions, documents, products and guarantees and securities. Ideal candidates will have strong drafting and negotiation skills, with the ability to identify relevant legal issues. You will also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team environment.
