Legal Executive (Debt Recovery) - Eversheds, Leeds - Job Description
LSG Recoveries act to recover and secure outstanding debt for our financial services and government department clients. The department has experienced 100% growth which is set to continue in its securitisation activities and we now need a legal executive to help under pin this growth.
We are market leaders as we are the only firm of solicitors who carry out this type of work. Our development plans are in line with the firms 3 year strategy plan to increase profitability in new and existing markets by 8% per year.
The department operates a telephone collections environment and work on shift patterns outside of standard hours to enable contact to be made.
Reporting to the Senior legal executive, you will focus on the following objectives:
Product development and research
Training and development of staff to ensure that we maintain and improve the standards required from a leading world class law firm
Dealing with defended cases (mainly small claims but possibly some fast track and multi track)
Legal Debt Recovery, to include taking proceedings, obtaining judgment, enforcing judgments and dealing with incidental applications.
Our litigation team is coping with ever demanding clients who are seeking fully integrated litigation strategies that are capable of delivering early financial returns. You will be required to assist with the development of these ongoing reforms, as well as the training and development of the team to deliver results. Urgent priorities are:
Legal research into the property forced sale process, including complexities, guidelines and subsequent account targeting strategy.
Bankruptcy process review and legal strategy development, client liaison, consultation and support,
Training and development of staff and attendance at court for complex hearings.
You will have shared responsibility with a Senior Fee Earner to train the legal collectors, to deputise in their absence as well as legal networking and continued development of court relations.
A minimum of 6 months experience of a collections environment and experience of legal collections and the court system is essential. You will have experience of debt enforcement methods and procedures coupled with a good working knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules. Experience of defended cases (consumer credit) would be a distinct advantage.
You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, be process driven - able to confidently challenge and develop working practises. You will be accurate with a keen eye for detail, self-motivated, able to work unsupervised to achieve demanding client deadlines. In addition, you will be target driven, proactive and an effective team worker.
