Legal Trainer/Legal Training Executive - Job Description
Working with the Head of Training to develop, deliver and manage high-quality training and development for D&W's legal and support staff.
Role Outline:
• Development and delivery of high-quality, interactive soft, business, legal and general skills training programmes
• Sole or joint (with Head of Training) responsibility for new training and development projects as they arise
• Working with the Head of Training to develop and implement the firm's training and development strategy
• Helping with benchmarking the business's training and development offering against our competitors
• Supporting the training and development offered to clients, often by delivering training or by organising for this to be delivered by others
• Taking responsibility with the rest of the training team for ensuring fee earners comply with the business's and the Law Society's CPD requirements
• Initiating, developing, and managing (and in many cases delivering) key business and soft skills programmes for legal associates and legal assistants; such programmes incorporating professional skills as necessary
• Initiating, developing and managing similar strategic programmes across the business to other colleagues
• Establishing such programmes as long term internal training events and as recurring and annual features
• Integrating such programmes with, and working with departments on, their technically specific programmes
• Aligning and, where appropriate, integrating such programmes with other key strategies and programmes of the business
• Working with partners and others to organise and facilitate internal and client learning events
• Being involved in client-facing activities including tenders and a bespoke training services
• Advising individuals on specific training queries
• Other ad hoc projects
Skills Required:
The successful candidate will:
• either be a solicitor qualified in Scotland or England and Wales or a qualified lawyer from a similar common law jurisdiction or a person with considerable work experience within a legal environment
• either be have a recent proven track record of developing and delivering legal training in a commercial environment, or within a legal educational institution and with recent experience of commercial practice
• have the confidence and ability to train all levels of personnel from partner to trainee and from director to assistant
• have high attention to detail and a keen awareness of quality and high standards
• have excellent analytical and technical ability
