This is an excellent opportunity to work within a Midlands based Local Authority to work within the Legal Services Unit.
The successful candidate should be a qualified solicitor or barrister with experience of Planning, Antisocial Behaviour and Licensing law. You should also have sound working knowledge of Contract law, Landlord and Tenant and other contentious/non contentious areas of law.
You must also have experience in a post qualification role requiring advocacy in a court or tribunal.
The preparation, care and conduct of:
- Magistrates’ Court Proceedings
- Civil actions in the County and High Courts;
- Planning and other inquiries;
- Proceedings before any tribunal;
- Arbitration proceedings.
Legal Advice and services including;
- Advising other service units of the Council and drafting any relevant documents, notices or orders.
- Dealing with enquiries by members of the public;
- Advising Members on legal matters relevant to the Council.
You will be responsible for providing designated advice on specialist areas including Licensing, Landlord and Tenant, Environmental Health and Planning.
Where appropriate you will negotiate contracts and agreements and advise on their interpretation and on problems arising out of their performance.
Other responsibilities will include deputising for the Head of Legal Services where appropriate.
