D Young & Co is currently looking to recruit a Qualified Patent Attorney to work within its Biotechnology team in London.

To continue providing an excellent service to all of their clients, there is a need to recruit two high calibre Qualified Patent Attorneys with relevant experience in the field of Biology, Biochemistry or Biotechnology to join the firm’s Biological Life Sciences teams in London.
ABOUT THE POSITION
The appointee will have to:
- Work closely with the biotechnology Partners to manage and develop an existing and expanding portfolio of molecular biology clients.
- To draft new applications
- To file and prosecute patent applications, as well as file and defend against oppositions at the EPO
- To advise on the nature and extent of patent protection to be obtained, as well as offering sound commercial advice
- To develop strong relationship with clients, via regular contact including visits.
- To ensure that work is dealt with quickly and efficiently, and that the firm’s reputation is maintained and enhanced at all times
ABOUT THE CANDIDATE
The candidate will have:
- A degree in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology or a related degree.
- A PhD level qualification would be appreciated but is not essential.
- A strong grounding in immunology would be advantageous
- Be fully qualified EPA and CPA
- Be able to demonstrate a successful career record
- Have gained broad experience of both UK and foreign patent work – filing, drafting and prosecuting patent applications.
- Have experience of participating/assisting in oral proceedings at the EPO
