Professional Indemnity Lawyer - Norwich - Job Description
Professional indemnity solicitor sought to undertake a variety of professional negligence cases against a wide range of professionals. Working under supervision, you will undertake your own matters or assist the partners on complex cases. Defendant-based experience required.
You will undertake a wide variety of professional negligence cases against any profession to include accountants, auditors, actuaries and pension trustees; agronomists; architects, surveyors, valuers and other construction professions; solicitors and barrister; computer software writers and other IT professionals; IFAs; insurance brokers, loss adjustors; stockbrokers; doctors, dentists and other clinical professions; alternative medical professions; and clinical trials.
Working under supervision, you will undertake your own matters or assist the partners on complex cases.
In addition, you will assist the team leader to attract new clients to the firm by supporting and/or taking part in marketing events, preparing or assisting in the preparation of publications.
You will be acting for a variety of Lloyd's syndicates, insurance companies and mutual funds that underwrite professional indemnity risks, plus their insured individuals and organisations. In addition, the team work for some NHS organisations.
Person specification
Essential
Good academics ie 2.1 degree or equivalent with A levels (A,A,C or equivalent points)
Defendant based experience gained in a reputable firm which ideally specialises in insurance-related and, in particular, professional indemnity work. Given the nature of the clinical/medical mal-practice work, a familiarity with the issues surrounding quantification of personal injury awards, would be a distinct advantage.
IT literacy, including familiarity with MS Office
Excellent written English for drafting purposes
Ability to build relationships with clients and potential clients
Good research skills, including an ability to use online information sources
Negotiating skills
Time and paper management skills
Excellent interpersonal and team skills, including ability to work with others, influence and persuade
