About Our Projects Group
The Projects group is a fast growing, dynamic and integrated team and is committed to the following areas:
Projects including education (BSF in particular), social housing, leisure, emergency services, health, energy and waste. The team comprises of 10 Partners and 15 Associates and draws together specialists in PFI, energy, construction, planning and public sector work. We advise private sector sponsors and funders on PFI/PPP and their infrastructure projects, including ICT, regeneration and outsourcing contracts, Government departments, local authorities, development agencies and other public bodies.
About the Role
You will be working closely with Partners and Associates within the group as well as with our transactional associates from across the firm, including banking, employment, pensions, planning, construction, property and tax. You will work on a diverse range of Public Private Partnership contracts across different industry sectorsfor both private and public sector clients.
Providing high quality legal advice on all aspects of the PFI/PPP documentation. Drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts. Involvement in marketing and business development activities, including formal pitches and tender panels. Involvement in the production of training materials and market updates.
Knowledge, Skills and Experience
We are looking for an associate with 2 PQE plus relevant experience of waste projects gained in the UK at either one or more leading law firms, in industry working for a waste management company or in a local authority which has completed a waste project. You should be able to demonstrate experience of:
Drafting project documentation on waste PPP/PFI projects.
Negotiating Project documentation.
Strong knowledge of waste legislation and regulation and its interpretation into waste projects.
Understanding the waste sector, major players, technologies, intermediaries and sector issues.
Networking and business development skills.
Experience of dealing with PUK, Defra and other agencies in relation to waste projects.
You should have a commercial approach, strong drafting skills and be proactive with the ability to manage a number of transactions.
