Projects Lawyer
Projects Lawyer - Job Description
We have strong reputation for work on projects worldwide having built on the Firm’s traditional strength advising on cross border financings of high value capital assets. We specialise by industry in areas such as power, oil and gas (including LNG), renewable energy, transportation, telecommunications, mining, water and other infrastructure and advise lenders and sponsors as well as offtake purchasers, construction contractors, host governments and local authorities.
Our lawyers have worked on over 200 projects in 70 countries during the preceding 10 years. Highlights of the group over the past year include advising:
· Fred Olsen Renewables on the project financing of two windfarms in the UK which was awarded the “European Renewable Deal of the Year 2004” by Project Finance Magazine
· Oxenbridge and Co. and Hutton Collins, two leading UK private equity houses, on the €260 acquisition (from RWE Power and the Lucchini Group) and financing of 300 MW of existing power plants and 2000 MW of development projects in Italy
· Algeria and Italian sponsors of a project to develop and finance a power transmission line from Algeria to Italy
· An Australian energy investment fund on its investment in UK and European windfarm projects
Our in-depth industry knowledge and the commercial nature of our approach often results in our being asked to join project or transaction teams long before external legal advisors are traditionally consulted.
We offer a comprehensive legal service covering the financing and structuring of transactions, including negotiation of term sheets, commercial project documents, credit facility agreements, account agreements, direct agreements with contractors and fuel suppliers and security documents for:
· Power plants (including conventional, biomass, wind (including offshore) and waste-to-energy power generation
· Operators of power plants, electricity transmissions and distributive facilities
· Oil and gas (transmission, storage, distribution including LNG facilities
· Natural resources
· Transportation (including energy transportation and port projects)
We are now looking to strengthen the project finance team and the structured trade finance team with the addition of several solicitors, with a minimum of 3 years pqe.
We are looking for 5-6 assistants across the Group and qualification spectrum. There will be scope for assistants to work in different practice areas within the Group should they so desire. The ideal candidates will be those who fit into the Firm’s culture which is dynamic, enterprising, creative, cosmopolitan and hard working.
The candidates must:
·be a UK qualified practitioner with a minimum of 3 years pqe relevant and high quality experience;
·have proven technical skills in one or more of the relevant areas;
·be dedicated, hard-working, creative and fit within a team culture;
·have relevant and significant experience of acting on major, multi-party transactions, domestically or internationally or both;
·have an enthusiasm for the law and its application in practice
Although our preference is for lawyers with experience in project finance and/or structured trade finance we would look at candidates with less direct experience provided they have cross-border finance experience and have worked at a respected finance practice.
We would also be interested in candidates with projects experience (ideally including construction) and with limited finance experience.
