Real Estate Associate - 4-6 years+ PQE (Non Contentious Construction) - London - Job Description

General Information

Herbert Smith has one of the leading specialist non-contentious construction law practices in the UK. The team focuses on large-scale construction and engineering projects, both domestically and in the international arena. We regularly act on landmark commercial real estate developments and on major infrastructure (including PFI/PPP) projects and energy projects, at all times handling top quality work for top quality clients (many of whom are household names). Our clients are primarily leading developers but we also deal with significant volumes of work from government bodies and financiers. We work across all the sectors of the construction industry from a single group, thus benefiting from broad experience within a specialist group.

We are currently seeking Associates to work in this practice area. The essential ingredient we are looking for in candidates is quality.

Experience Requirements

Essential

• Candidates will have gained in the region of 4 to 6 years post qualification experience within the non-contentious construction practice of a top tier firm. We will consider candidates with less or more than the required level of experience provided they can demonstrate their suitability.
• Academic excellence is essential for all positions within Herbert Smith. We would always expect a 2:1 degree (or equivalent) and solicitors' examinations passed first time. All applications should include full academic details including grades, subjects and transcripts where appropriate.
• Previous experience in non-contentious construction will have been gained from a broad range of experience, involving one or more of commercial property development projects, energy projects and/or infrastructure projects. Candidates will need to demonstrate strong commercial application.
• Good drafting skills and a strong understanding of the standard forms is required.
• Proven ability to deal and communicate effectively with clients.
