Real Estate Corporate Solicitor - Birmingham - Job Description
Main Purpose of Job:
Working in the Corporate Group as part of a dedicated team advising on a range of corporate real estate work for a range of clients. The team advises on a very broad range of corporate topics (companies, partnerships and trusts of all types, including relevant foreign entities) and related commercial agreements. The team does not advise on real estate matters. Full training will be given.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
• Working in the firm’s Corporate Group, this role will involve advising on a broad range of transactional corporate work, with a particular focus on real estate funds investment structures from formation through to exit, including subsequent refinancing and asset acquisitions
• International corporate acquisitions, disposals and joint ventures with a strong emphasis on acting for clients investigating, developing or managing real estate assets.
• The role also requires significant project management skills, since the team frequently leads the negotiations on deals, obtaining input from tax advisers and foreign lawyers on a wide range of complex documentation.

Competencies:
• Strong academic background and confident dealing with numerical / financial issues.
• Excellent problem solving and lateral thinking skills.
• Demonstrable post qualification experience undertaken within a corporate team at a regarded law firm.
• Excellent organisational skills.
• Excellent project management skills and the confidence to deal with lawyers from other disciplines / law firms and other advisers.
• Good negotiation and drafting skills.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
• Commercially aware.
• Team player.
Key Skills and Experiences:
The ideal candidate will have experience of:
• Working as a qualified solicitor in a dedicated corporate department.
• Working as part of a team on a wide variety of corporate transactional work.
• Advising on corporate real estate work and real estate investment work.
• Drafting basic corporate and commercial documents.
• Building and maintaining long term client relationships.
• Project managing transactions (with examples of good organising and communication skills).
