Regulatory NQ-3PQE - Job Description
Our client is a national firm and the Manchester office requires a solicitor NQ-3PQE for the public and regulatory group. The Public and Regulatory Law Group advise Central and local Government, statutory and other public bodies on all aspects of their work. They have developed a particular expertise in the field of healthcare, but also advise on financial, sporting and legal regulation. The Group’s public law expertise involves advising on information transfer, human rights issues and the development of public policy. The group regularly provides support for Public Inquiries and undertakes a varied caseload of Judicial Review work.
Clients include: General Medical Council; General Social Care Council; Office of the Deputy Prime Minister; Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority; the London Metal Exchange; Rugby Football Union; The Law Society; Metropolitan Police Authority and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants.
The Group currently consists of 7 partners and 29 other fee earners. The team in Manchester currently consists of 1 Partner, 3Assistants, 4 paralegals and 2 secretaries.
Key Responsibilities
The work is varied and likely to include:
· the preparation and prosecution of ‘regulatory’ disciplinary cases for hearings;
· interviewing witnesses;
· instructing experts and counsel;
· liaising with defence;
· attending hearings, and participating as required;
· advising on statutory schemes;
· the preparation of cases for judicial review and appeals to the High Court.
Skills/Experience Required
· min. 2.1 from a good university;
· experience of healthcare issues is desirable;
· previous regulatory experience is also desirable;
· strong litigation skills and experience of advocacy;
· a good team player, but also comfortable working alone;
· ability to relate to clients/witnesses at all levels.
