Senior Business Development Manager
The Company:
A leading global law firm is looking to recruit a Senior Business Development Manager to join there very successful Marketing team. The role will be focused on Client Management, the sales process and campaign management, as well as product development to explore new growth areas.
The Responsibilities:
• Provide focus to the strategic direction and delivery of the BD activities in London
• Develop a coherent approach to the practice area’s global positioning and marketing activities
• Introduce a more market analyses-led approach to BD and priority setting
• Help shape the business planning and drive and develop supporting marketing plans
• Ensure that the ICM practice supports and works effectively with the rest of the firm’s marketing activities
• Provide strong leadership to and day-to-day management of the London BD team
• Coach the BD team to continue to develop their internal advisory and consultancy skills
• Working closely with and reporting to the Associate Director, Business Development and the Director of Marketing and Business Development
• Bringing focus and discipline to the group’s client management activities
• Improving the approach to marketing planning; facilitating strategic plans and supporting their implementation
• Ensuring better integration of London and global marketing and BD activities
• Introducing a more rigorous approach to market analyses, including competitor activity
• Introducing a structured client feedback programme, in line with the firm’s drive in this area
• Developing best practice for proposals and targeting, and supporting the high value pursuits/opportunities
• Developing and introducing integrated marketing campaigns to target new areas of work, launch new products, amplify elements of our brand, etc
• Being a departmental ‘ambassador’, engaging partners/BD in rest of firm to aid cross-selling
• Working with the PR team to ensure coverage and position our practice in line with our brand
• Ensuring a client-focused writing style in all the written marketing communications
• Through coaching and training, helping to improve partners’ and associates’ BD skills
• Connecting with clients, networking with them, conducting feedback, attending relationship meetings
• Taking responsibility for firm-wide BD projects
The Candidate:
• Strong commercial understanding of the global finance markets, debt capital markets and derivatives in particular
• Enthusiasm to deepen understanding of the client base and products
• Will create energy within the group, be highly visible and encourage and challenge partners
• Superb communication skills, written and oral
• Ability to lead and develop the team
• Excellent interpersonal and influencing skills with all levels
• Responsive, proactive and innovative
• Understands the partnership culture, but willing to challenge it in the appropriate way
• Tenacity and energy – driven by delivery and end results
• Ability to work under pressure and cope with high work loads
