Senior Editor - Job Description
We are currently looking for a Senior Editor to work principally on the preparation of reissue titles of the EF&P. Each title has a practical commentary on an area of law, and provides supporting precedent and forms material. Reissued titles must reflect recent legal developments and contribute to the overall cohesion of the product.
The post will involve a range of editorial tasks including styling and editing of complex legal text, liaising with authors and other departments, carrying out research, proof reading and working towards strict deadlines for print and online services. You will ensure the accuracy of material in EF&P, whilst making it meaningful and accessible (in any format) to the professionals who depend on it.
Key skills we are looking for:
A solicitor with particular experience in drafting and perusing non-contentious documents, although applicants with a law degree and/or other professional qualification will also be considered.
Excellent IT skills.
Excellent written English, including the capacity to write within the strict constraints of house style and an excellent eye for detail.
The ability to understand, navigate and present complex legal materials.
The ability to prioritise workload, and work to strict deadlines.
Self-discipline and motivation, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
Enthusiasm, good communication skills and a keenness to be part of a friendly team in a growing and progressive business.
Desirable Skills we’re looking for:
Familiarity with the EF&P, or another legal encyclopaedia.
Experience of editing legal materials
