Overview
Acting for the NHS Local Authority and the Medical Defence Union as well as private insurers in the health market, our highly rated clinical risk team has a proven track record in defending high value obstetrics, paediatrics and neurosurgical claims.

In Bristol our dedicated clinical risk team, lead by Nigel Montgomery, act for healthcare providers in the public and private sectors. The team handle clinical negligence claims across all areas including cerebral palsy, oncology, paediatrics and plastic surgery.

The team comprises two partners, two associates and 8 solicitors.

Role
This role requires you to handle a challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence work on behalf of the NHS Local Authority and Medical Defence Union. This will include drafting pleadings, witness statements and letters of response, conducting face to face negotiations and mediation of claims as well as preparing counter schedules in high value claims.

You will make an appropriate contribution to non fee-earning activity e.g. knowledge sharing, training, marketing and provide lecturing to clients both at internal and external seminars.

You will also be involved in writing articles for publication both for in-house and external publications.

Person
We are looking for a defendant clinical risk solicitor with 1 – 3 years post qualified experience with a well-recognised firm. Experience of defendant clinical negligence work would be a distinct advantage and experience of handling high value claims is required.


You will be a confident communicator with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels whilst being commercially minded and results driven. The ability to see legal issues within the client's broader operating environment is a must.

You must be able to handle a complex and constantly changing workload and able to work under pressure, whilst also proving you are detail conscious with a concern for quality.
