Overview
Our Employment Team advises public and private sector employers on human resource issues from daily personnel matters, including disciplinary and grievance issues, to strategic management issues such as redundancy programmes, industrial action, and wrongful dismissal claims. As part of their service, the team provides management training and consultative advice tailored to the client’s specific needs. Many of our employment lawyers are experienced tribunal advocates; between them they handle over 400 tribunal cases per year. The team has a strong track record in providing employment advice to public health sector clients Private sector clients include many blue chip companies.
Role
Within this role you will undertake a varied workload of employment matters focusing on commercial and litigation work on behalf of private sector clients and assist when necessary in respect of public sector clients. You will progress client matters with an appropriate level of supervision from more experienced fee-earners and maintain an awareness of the appropriate limits of own competence/authority.
You will take part in and initiate marketing / network activities in order to maintain and develop work from existing clients and potential clients. This includes presenting and assisting in client seminars.
You will maintain and develop technical knowledge through attendance at training sessions, reading appropriate publications and exceeding Law Society CPD requirements
Contribute to non fee-earning activity as appropriate eg knowledge sharing, training
Support the effective running of the team eg contributing to team meetings
Provide support for colleagues where appropriate eg progressing matters in colleagues’ absence.
Person
You will ideally be of 2-4 years plus qualification with experience of tribunal work, contentious and non contentious matters.
You will be willing and able to develop own advocacy and be an independent thinker with a focus on generating commercial solutions to problems on behalf of clients.
A confident communicator with an ability to develop relationships, undertake client marketing and influence at all levels as well as an enthusiastic team player with a flexible approach
