Solicitor - 2-5 pqe

Acting for the NHSLA, the MDU and private insurers, our highly rated clinical negligence team has a proven track record in defending high value obstetrics, paediatrics and neurosurgical claims. The team is based in Bristol and Winchester. The Winchester team comprises 2 Partners, 1 Associate, 1 Consultant and 12 fee earners.

Within this role you will be handling a challenging caseload of defendant clinical negligence work. This will include drafting pleadings, witness statements and letters of response, liaison with the NHSLA, Trusts and other health bodies, conducting face to face negotiations and mediation of claims as well as preparing counter schedules of damages in high value claims.

You will make an appropriate contribution to non fee-earning activity eg knowledge sharing, training, client seminars, and writing of articles and comply with the required standards for internal procedures.

You will be 2 - 5 years' pqe experience with a well-recognised firm. Ideally this would be defendant clinical negligence or substantial personal injury experience, but claimant experience would also be considered.


You will be a confident communicator, with the ability to negotiate and influence at all levels, commercially minded and results driven, with the ability to see legal issues within the client's broader operating environment.
You will be able to handle a complex and constantly changing workload and to work under pressure, with a conscious concern for quality.
