Structured Trade and Commodity Finance Lawyer - London
Structured Trade and Commodity Finance Lawyer - London - Job Description
Lovells has one of the broadest banking and finance practices of any major City law firm. By building on our well-established general corporate banking practice, and by developing a clear understanding of our clients’ business needs and the markets in which they operate, we have become one of the market leaders in:
Acquisition finance
Asset finance
Restructuring and Rescheduling
Structured Trade and Commodity Finance
Project Finance
Property Finance
The practice operates internationally, with banking teams in Germany, France, Italy, Russia, Poland, Amsterdam, New York, Singapore and Hong Kong. There are regular video conferences and face to face meetings with these offices and the cross-border "one stop shop" concept is contributing strongly to growth. Client and internal secondments are a regular feature of assistant career paths.
In London there is strong co-operation with other groups, such as Private Equity and Corporate Finance on major acquisitions, and Capital Markets and Property Finance on structured finance transactions.
The Project Finance and Acquisition Finance teams have had strong growth in the last two years and it is likely that recruitment will be focused on these areas in the near future. We are also intending to expand the Finance Practice generally within the firm, so exceptional candidates in any of the main sub-groups listed above are always of interest.
We would be interested in receiving CVs of any exceptional candidates, with particular experience in the areas of project, asset, trade and acquisition finance.
We currently have a vacancy for a lawyer with 2+ post qualification experience (or equivalent) with general banking experience. Some specialisation in trade finance would be helpful. Duties will include advising clients on all aspects of syndicated lending, structured commodity and export financing including: pre-export financing; prepayment financing; warehouse financing; limited-recourse structures; dispute resolution; and facilities backed by export credit agencies.
As part of this, negotiating and documenting a range of transactions including:
(a) bilateral and syndicated loan facilities on behalf of banks and other financial institutions;
(b) prepayment arrangements on behalf of lenders and trading houses;
(c) security and other credit support documents in both bilateral and syndicated structures.
It is the policy of the firm to provide equal opportunities for all employees in relation to recruitment, training and promotion. Decisions in these areas will be made only by reference to the requirements of the job and shall not be influenced by any consideration of ethnic origin, religion, sex, age etc.
