Trademark Administrator - Job Description

In particular, the job will cover the following duties:

1. Prepare UK trade mark applications and deal with all formalities at the UK IPO.
2. Deal with extensions of UK marks to other jurisdictions where this is possible.
3. Where a client instructs us to file applications in numerous jurisdictions, prepare and send appropriate instructions to foreign agents, keeping a record of correspondence, chasing responses and recording deadlines etc.
4. Deal with all incoming mail concerning trade mark filing practice, note deadlines and ensure they appear in the Key Dates diary and in our database, ensure that new instructions are handed to appropriate attorneys to deal with them, arrange settlement of third party invoices, and follow up on all such matters.
5. Where trade mark applications are claiming priority ensure that the relevant priority documents are available and filed on time.
6. Keep track on all up coming deadlines and ensure they are communicated to the relevant people in good time and obtain evidence that they have been dealt with.
7. Assist with conversion to Inprotech.
8. Where matters can be dealt with by use of a standard letter (which will be prepared by the lawyers currently working on the trade mark practice), communicating with the client advising them of procedural steps which have been taken in relation to trade mark applications.
9. Deal with renewals where instructed to do so by client, including seeking instructions.
10. Prepare standard invoices.
11. Prepare status reports for trade mark cases when required.
12. Analyse trade mark search reports so as to provide advice to clients on availability and registrability of trade marks.
