We are LEXCEL and IIP accredited and a LSC Category 1 firm, with franchises in 9 areas of law, and employing over 270 staff, with established offices in Hackney and Harrow. We have an ever-growing private client base and are now seeking to expand several of our teams.
A Welfare and Benefits Solicitor is required for our Dalston office with a minimum of 2 years experience.
MAIN PURPOSES
- Undertake Fee-Earning to adequate standards of accuracy and efficiency under supervision.
- Assist in the development of the firm in line with the contents of the Business and Development plan.
KEY TASKS
1. Dealing with casework for your Department.
2. Attending clients, taking instructions and preparing cases.
3. Dealing with correspondence.
4. Supervising and delegating work to and assisting more junior staff in the Department.
5. Maintaining accurate time costing procedures.
6. Meeting performance targets.
7. Assist in marketing activities and maintain appropriate professional relationships with referrers etc.
8. Working towards Quality Standards and dealing promptly with any non-compliant items.
9. Attending training sessions (including where appropriate, management and supervision courses) and undertaking training in line with The Law Society's Regulations and the firm’s training policy.
SKILLS
- Drafting of legal documents.
- Advocacy skills.
- Liaising with clients.
- Negotiating with relevant authorities.
- Advisory skills, guiding clients in family and immigration matters.
- Counselling of clients and their family when dealing with legal issues related to your area of practice.
- IT skills , both WP and computerised time costing.
- File, Case Management and Billing skills.
- Researching into specific aspects of Family and Immigration Law.
- Time Management, working to set deadlines set by Family and Immigration Authorities.
- Supervision skills, including attendance on a specific course.
- Leadership and mentoring skills.
- People Management skills, guiding junior staff, interpreters and others involved in the legal services.
SALARY, PERFORMANCE BONUS SCHEME AND OTHER BENEFITS OFFERED, subject to conditions, 20 days annual leave [in addition to Bank Holidays), Birthday leave, Medical cash plan, occupational sick pay and excellent training and development opportunities.
