Personal Injury Solicitor
Location: Leigh

An opportunity has arisen for a Personal Injury Solicitor to join a rapidly expanding team to advise and assist clients with legal problems relating to all areas of Personal Injury. The candidate will handle cases including EL, Industrial Disease, OL and PL both Multi track and Catastrophic cases. They would also attend court as required.

Responsibilities

Representing clients in court, tribunals and CICA hearings if necessary
Managing a case load including a full risk assessment of all matters
Providing legal services to clients whilst maintaining standards associated with Law Society and SRA rules, Lexcel quality/practice management standards, Legal Aid SQM requirements, Source Provider criteria and work type/office procedures
Undertaking supervisory reviews of other team members
Actively seeking opportunities to cross refer work within the Firm and carry out cross referrals

Skills

Qualified Solicitor (0-2 PQE)
Experience managing a Personal Injury case load in particular multi track, catastrophic and high value cases
Experience in working with Court of Protection
Up to date knowledge of relevant legislation
Demonstrates strong advocacy skills

An opportunity has arisen for a Law Costs Draftsperson to join a expanding team to advise and provide a professional Costings service to the firm enabling the demanding departments run efficiently through their files being properly finished and billed and those bills submitted to the relevant bodies for payment.

Responsibilities

Draft a bill of costs without supervision
Provides support to departments in preparing claims for payment to LSC and private paying clients Prepares Costs Schedules for negotiation, Solicitor Client Bills and Gross Sum Bills, schedules for Summary Assessment, schedules for Allocation and Listing Questionnaires
Prepares and deals with bills for detailed assessment both publicly funded and inter-parte
Ensures that files are satisfactorily finished, disbursements paid and files closed according to procedures laid down in the department
Ensures that payments are allocated to the correct file/matter when funds are received.
Provides general administrative support to the Costings department

Skills

Minimum qualifications - 5 GCSEs or equivalent at grade C, including Maths and English (relevant work experience may be considered as an alternative)
Experience of working as a costs draftsperson
Knowledge of personal injury, clinical negligence and general civil litigation costs
Knowledge of public funding costs
Ability to work productively amidst frequent interruptions
Confidence in influencing over the telephone
