Banking and finance litigation:
Acting for a wide range of domestic and foreign banks, building societies, financial institutions, lease and asset based lenders, the team continues to experience considerable growth and expansion with increased work for all banking clients, and particularly through the firm’s position on Barclays’ litigation and corporate recovery panels.
Corporate Recovery & Insolvency:
With both broad and specific niche expertise, the team advises on all aspects of business failure, acting for lenders and creditors and has strong relationships with a wide variety of insolvency practitioners, including the ‘big four’ accountancy firms, banks and financial institutions. It is also experienced in advising directors on personal issues such as disqualification actions.
Commercial litigation:
This experienced team acts for large corporate institutions and owner managed businesses, handling all types of major commercial disputes including those with suppliers, contractors and customers, partnership disputes and professional negligence.
Debt recovery:
A comprehensive range of work including secured and unsecured, regulated and unregulated and commercial and consumer is covered by the team. Expertise in particular sectors includes professional service firms, finance houses, banks, building societies, vehicle finance, office supplies and publishing.
Property:
The commercial property team is experienced in all aspects of the acquisition, financing, letting, disposal and management of freehold and leasehold property across a wide range of sectors including office, retail, industrial, leisure, investment and commercial.
The residential property department continues to expand, with the team acting for many lenders, investment, purchasers and private buyers.
Construction:
Working closely with construction and other related professionals, the team advises on all aspects of the development and construction process from inception to completion, and is experienced in dispute resolution.
Property litigation:
As skilled litigators, the team is very experienced in dealing with and resolving a full spectrum of contentious property related matters.
Corporate:
All aspects of mergers and acquisitions and finance, as well as a range of commercial services, are handled by a very experienced team. In addition, the team has particular expertise in transactional and non-transactional work for corporates, medium and larger privately-owned businesses. It gives MBO and private equity advice as well as transactional advice on earn-outs, ownership plans and quoted paper transactions.
AIM
The specialist AIM team cover a broad range of corporate finance work and have particular expertise in advising on public and private mergers, acquisitions and disposals; AIM IPOs and secondary fundraisings; other AIM listed company work (including advice on ABI guidelines issues of compliance and corporate governance); UK and international joint ventures; debt and equity finance and public company restructuring.
Commercial, IP & IT:
With a strong reputation for advising TMT clients on a range of mergers and acquisitions, the team also advises on a number of IT-related matters, including IT contract structure re-engineering, online trade mark acceptance and keyword usage, settlements of multi-million-pound claims and other large-scale IT implementations.
Employment:
Working closely with HR departments in industry and the service sector, the team is noted for its work on restraint provisions, TUPE and in tribunals. Advising on the creation of share schemes and benefit plans the team also negotiates terms of employment and severance agreements for senior executives of FTSE listed organisations.
Tax, trusts, probate & wills:
Specialising in tax led planning, including domicile and off-shore issues, the team also provides a full wills, probate and administration of estate service. With a strong reputation in finding solutions in complex tax work, this multidisciplinary team is very experienced in advising corporates, owner-managed businesses and LLPs on structuring, succession and tax issues. It is also well known for advising on wealth protection for the elderly and in cases of mental incapacity. In addition the team has considerable experience advising a number of large charities.
Family:
Dealing with all aspects of divorce and civil partnership breakdown, this experienced team also advises on a significant number of high value Inheritance Act claims and disputes, often involving an international element.
