My client has a history going back to the late 1800s when they were established in the City of London. They opened their first overseas office in the 1970s and now have offices in 10 locations across the globe. With over 500 lawyers worldwide, they are a dynamic, commercial firm and leaders in their specialist business areas.
Responsibilities
Management of departmental revenue; billing time, analysis of aged WIP, ensuring regular reviews of WIP are carried out and forward.
Regularly review WIP reports to ensure dead matters are closed and unrecoverable time and disbursements are written off
Review of CCLs at matter set-up, ensuring specific terms are reflected at set-up in readiness for billing
Taking appropriate action, consultation with matter Partners, in dealing with unbillable WIP, including CFAs
Monitoring levels of client exposure and reporting matter in need of attention to the Revenue Manager
Regular review of unbilled time and disbursements in order to identify bills to be raised and supporting efforts to reach billing targets on a monthly basis
Ensure bills identified are raised, finalised and dispatched in a timely manner, assisting with drafting of related correspondence as needed
Support and assist the Collections team as well as matter Partners by responding promptly to their requests for information
Ensure relevant SRA Accounts Rules requirements are met
Ensure the firm's policies and procedures are adhered to
Proactively work as a team with other Revenue Controllers to help meet targets and identify opportunities to reduce the working capital of the fir
Respond to Ad-hoc queries from other departments and Fee Earners in respect of billing and revenue
Candidate Profile
Solid revenue experience gained within a legal partnership or LLP environment
Professional training and qualifications gained in accountancy and/or revenue management ideal
Understanding of SRA and applications of VAT
IT literate; Excel and Elite 3E.
Thorough understanding of best practice techniques for managing the revenue cycle
Excellent written and communication skills as well as excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships at all levels
Highly client focused
