This November is the return of the annual SecsintheCity PA of the Year Awards which celebrate the hard work and dedication of PAs, EAs and office support professionals. The awards take place at the Ivy, London on Thursday 7th November.

The ‘Legal PA of the Year’ category is back this year, which is an award dedicated exclusively to EAs, PAs, secretaries and administrative support staff within the legal sector.

If you know a standout Legal PA, this is a perfect opportunity to acknowledge their dedication and commitment.

So what does it take to be Legal PA of the Year?

Here are some testimonials from last year’s winners, describing their PA of the Year Awards experience:

Amy Franklyn – Winner of Legal PA of the Year 2018

Amy Franklyn, EA to the Head of Corporate at Bird & Bird LLP, was nominated for the award in light of her outstanding success at the firm. During her time at Bird & Bird, she managed a team of 11 PAs and established the firm’s PA network in London.

The network is the first of its kind in a law firm, representing a support system where PAs from across the business can share their knowledge and collaborate. It is this amazing achievement which landed Amy the nomination.

Amy described her experience of the interview process after she was shortlisted: “I really enjoyed the interview – the judges were so nice and genuinely interested in my role. There were smiles all round for the whole interview and I could tell the judges liked what I had done.”

Amy said that the awards ceremony itself was a “lovely experience.” She continued to share her praise: “I felt really special. Everybody took the time to speak to me and congratulate me on my nomination.”

Joyce Dadzie – Winner of the Outstanding Achievement Award 2018

Joyce Dadzie, EA at Axiom, was chosen for the Outstanding Achievement Award due to her fantastic achievements throughout her career. From managing a team of 5 at TfL only 18 months after graduating, to working as EA to the MD at Capita and landing her current EA role at Axiom – it’s safe to say that her career has gone from strength to strength.

The judges said that it was Joyce’s boundless positivity and creative proactivity that really shone through and secured her the win. She has redefined the EA role at Axiom, leading outreach projects, taking on CSR work and bridging the gaps between remote teams.

Joyce shared her experience at the PA of the Year Awards: “The night was amazing […] There was such a high level of talent in the room that simply listening to the nominees in the other categories motivated me to do more.”

“The night was truly a celebration of PAs and EAs and the tremendous work that they do and being at The Ivy just topped it off!”
