The Legal Secretary Profession: Updates from ILSPA

ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma Course:
There are some changes to ILSPA’s Legal Secretaries Diploma course. Students who enrol for their live online classes will benefit from a new syllabus and have the option to choose which legal subjects they would like to study. Students can also submit all their coursework online through a new learning management system.
Institute of Legal Secretaries and PAs is offering live online classes throughout 2023 which will take place one evening a week, for twelve weeks, via Zoom. Students will be taught about law and legal procedures, have the opportunity to interact with their tutor and learn with a group. The classes follow a set syllabus, which includes a new Key Legal Secretary Skills unit. Students will now be able to learn about important aspects of Legal Secretary work such as workload management, effective communication, teamwork and how to be organised. This unit complements the legal content of the course and helps students excel in their roles.
Online Distance Learning Course:
The online distance learning course also has some exciting changes. Students who choose to study via this method will have three mandatory core units, including the new Key Legal Secretary Skills unit. They are then free to choose three legal units. There are seven legal units to choose from, two of which are new to the Legal Secretaries Diploma syllabus. Students now have the option to study Criminal Law and Corporate and Commercial law.
Online Study Experience:
As well as the changes to the content of the course, ILSPA has also updated and improved its online study experience for students. They can now upload and submit their assessments online through a new learning management system. Not only does this open up learning for more people throughout the UK, but it also makes the course more accessible for those overseas.

It provides students with the legal knowledge and practical skills they need to become competent Legal Secretaries. Once gaining the qualification, they will receive a valuable Legal Secretaries Diploma certificate. ILSPA is the professional body for Legal Secretaries and PAs and it is recommended by the National Careers Service, as well as other career-related organisations.
