Corporate Lawyer – 1-4 years' PQE - Experience of high-value corporate and/or banking work - Based in Guernsey.

The Guernsey office of one of the world’s leading offshore law firms is keen to hear from Corporate Associates with City/equivalent credentials. The work is high-quality and spans the entire corporate remit, including aspects of finance work, making this ideal for someone who enjoys a varied practice. You will have lots of responsibility and client contact from the outset, as part of a team that is highly successful but which remains down to earth and friendly.  The salaries are competitive with a good City law firm and tax is only 20% maximum.  You are likely to have at least 12 months’ experience gained from a City/equivalent or well-regarded regional UK law firm.  Australian/NZ qualified lawyers are also welcome to apply.

The Firm

This global offshore law firm has an excellent reputation, advising a blue-chip client base on the full range of offshore corporate, banking and financial services work, both contentious and transactional. It hires out of the best onshore firms in London and internationally and offers a combination of high-quality work and tax-efficient City level salaries in what is a supportive and friendly environment. They work hard but the work life balance tends to be reasonable and with promotion being based on merit, opportunities for career development are good.

The Channel Islands

Located within an hour of London, Jersey and Guernsey are world-class financial centres that offer City calibre work combined with a coastal lifestyle that is worlds apart.  They each house offices of almost every major offshore practice, fielding teams of largely ex-City/International firm lawyers advising on high-value and complex matters. The firms encourage a commercial, client focused approach and most will find that the levels of involvement and responsibility compare favourably with a big onshore outfit.  Opportunities for career progression right through to Partnership are excellent.

Outside of the office, a good work/life balance allows ample time to enjoy the attractions whether it is coastal walks or a local restaurant, a round of golf or learning to surf.  It is an evocative mix of professional challenge and personal fulfilment that many lawyers find hard to walk away from but should you decide to move on, experience here will be marketable around the world.  To find out more please contact us for a copy of our Guide to Living and Working in the Channel Islands.
