Our Client is a long established but progressive 11 partner firm based in Hertfordshire.  The commercial and private offerings are currently roughly of the same size but the former is growing at a faster rate. 

The Commercial Litigation team currently consists of 1 partner and 3 other solicitors. The team was ranked in the 2014 edition of the Legal 500.  They aim to provide the highest standard of service and quality of work to our many longstanding clients.  They also aim to grow the team in the future.

The Role:

This is a property litigation specialist role. Typical work will involve providing advice to landlords, management companies and managing agents, breach of covenant claims and other private landlord and tenant matters, business lease renewals, lease extensions, land registration disputes, possession claims, easement and boundary disputes.  They do not currently act for social landlords or in matters concerning social housing.  They do not accept instructions on legal aid.

You will have an immediate caseload of mainly County Court work.  You will take primary responsibility for those. You will also assist with more complex matters under supervision. 

The role also requires your handling the firm’s internal debt collection matters and some overflow of County Court litigation work from other team members in the Commercial Litigation practice area.  As the volume of property litigation work increases, the volume of other litigation work will reduce. You may be called on to assist in larger commercial litigation matters from time to time e.g. execution of search orders, where a large team is needed.
