Planning Lawyer required to join a large local authority based in London for an initial 3 month period.


The successful Planning Lawyer must be able to hit the ground running and handle a large, high profile and demanding caseload with minimal supervision. The work will be both transactional and advice oriented, and will include handling the following matters;

● Drafting complex high profile section 106 Agreements

● Drafting section 38 and 278 highway agreements

● Advising clients on planning (including waste and minerals) and highway issues

● Dealing with judicial review applications and attending to advise at planning committees


This is an exciting opportunity to join a busy Planning department within a sought after local authority.


The successful candidate will be joining a well-established team, within a popular local authority. Due to the fast paced nature of the work, It is important to this council that the successful candidate demonstrates a positive, can-do attitude, and is able to work with dynamism and professionalism to get the job done in the clients' required timeframes.


It is not essential to have previous local government experience, but the successful Planning Lawyer should have an appreciation of local authority principles and be a fast learner who is keen to embrace new and unfamiliar concepts peculiar to local authorities. You must also have the demeanour and confidence to present well to clients and work well with other team members.


The role will involve working across a number of clients and providing an inhouse legal service. Travel to other offices will be required, in order to attend planning committee meetings at least twice a month.


The Council is situated within walking distance from excellent transport links, making it an easily commutable location. Our client is happy to offer flexibility with regards to working hours, and working from home one day a week can be considered once settled into the role.
