Duties and responsibilities

At Clyde & Co we recruit according to competencies which are linked to our Career Development Framework. As an Associate, the post holder will be responsible for:

  • Demonstrating knowledge of relevant legal principles and procedural/statutory frameworks
  • Drafting clearly in a succinct and commercial manner
  • Having a good knowledge of the law and able to apply it to factual issues
  • Advising insurers on claims
  • Conversing with clients about industry-related issues; understanding client and commercial issues
  • Understanding the industry sector and taking an interest in market development
  • Diligent file management
  • Acting for insurers and advising on broad insurance disputes in the UK and overseas
  • Producing drafts of correspondence, advice, reports etc that are clear and accurate
  • Identifying potential arguments, claims and solutions

Experience required

The successful candidate must be a qualified lawyer and those with a relevant postgraduate qualification will be preferred. Candidates must have relevant experience, preferably including energy insurance. Due to the nature of the role and the firm, they will ideally have experience dealing with multi-jurisdictional matters in the insurance industry.

Annual Salary: £60,000 - £65,000 plus benefits and allowances depending on circumstances
