My client is currently looking to recruit a Legal Specialist Training Manager to ensure teams are equipped with the technical skills and knowledge required to achieve their objectives and provide the highest quality service and advice to clients. The successful candidate will either be a qualified Solicitor (barrister or CILEX) who is looking for a change in career with some training experience or someone currently working within a similar role. Experience within Clinical Negligence / Personal Injury is essential 

The successful candidate will have training design, delivery and evaluation experience, excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and experience of utilising elearning as a development tool


  • To undertake Annual Learning Needs Analysis for Medical Negligence teams and Serious Injury Team
  • To design an Annual Learning Plan for Medical Negligence teams and Serious Injury Team
  • To review learning plans on a quarterly basis with key stakeholders and Head of People to ensure relevance of the plan (and take action to amend if necessary)
  • To deliver learning and development activity in line with the above, utilising the most appropriate medium (e.g. classroom based, elearning, conference)
  • To evaluate all learning and development activity (response to, learning and application)
  • Conduct a review of all training materials bi-annually to ensure relevance
  • To assist with legal training – content and delivery – for other depts. (Fast Track, Court of Protection, EL/PL, Costs team) where appropriate
  • To co-ordinate and oversee the internal CPD process in line with SRA guidelines and consider CPD requirements as part of the Learning Needs Analysis and Annual Learning Plan
  • Assisting with the PORT assessment process and coordination of legal case studies etc.
  • Ownership of the firms’ trainees (PORT) to ensure seats, learning logs and knowledge development meets and exceeds the SRA requirement
  • Coordinate the in-house law review publication
  • Advise the Recruitment team on any technical assessments
  • Involvement in other ad-hoc projects as requests by the Heads of Dept. or Head of People
  • Working closely with the Academy to ensure our online training is current, relevant and assessments up to date
  • Responsible for ensuring publication of cases e.g. LAWTEL
