Our client is a leading, well-established London law firm based in the City. They specialise in intellectual property and are recognised for advising well-known companies and brands. 

The firm is now seeking to hire a Financial Controller to oversee all aspects of the firm’s revenue and expenditure. This person will provide a comprehensive, accurate accounting and finance system and assistance to the Finance Director on a wide range of financial matters.

Responsibilities

Oversee the daily activities and operation of the Finance Department.

Manage the development of the Finance Department team members by carrying out performance assessments and identify specific training needs.

Regular review of the Finance department procedures.

Provide a computerised accounting system, maintain it and oversee its future development.

Manage the firm’s payroll function.

Develop, maintain and update procedures to ensure the accuracy of financial information.

Maintain and update procedures to ensure that the firm’s suppliers are paid in accordance with partnership policy.

Maintain and update procedures to maintain and audit the firm’s asset register.

Maintain and update procedures to ensure that financial data is archived, stored and destroyed according to legal requirements.

Ensure regular reconciliations are performed to maintain the integrity of financial systems and information.

Lead a team of staff responsible for the production of management accounts and reports.

Provide Partners and Department Heads with financial and management data to support the firm’s business plan.

Provide the Partners, Fee Earners and Department Heads with support and advice regarding the firm’s financial and accounting policies and procedures.

Candidate Profile

Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA).  

Minimum of 5 years post qualification experience, within professional services.
