THE OPPORTUNITIES
On behalf of this leading offshore law firm in wonderful Bermuda, we are shortlisting high-calibre candidates at Counsel/Partner level for positions in Corporate, Litigation (Dispute Resolution), Property, Private Client and Trusts. We are looking for self-confident, highly capable applicants.
Key responsibilities in each sector will include the following:
I: Corporate
- Advise corporate clients with respect to all aspects of case management
- Represent the Firm in dealings with other law firms, government, and other professionals and third parties involved with the clients’ affairs
- Review and prepare contracts, including M&A and JVs, as well as complex commercial transactions, buy-outs and other corporate business transactions
- Develop a thorough understanding of each client so as to provide superior service
- Advise in relation to a wide range of general Corporate matters in addition to matters of Insurance, Mutual Funds, Partnership, Financing, Securities, Telco, Banking and Shipping
II: Litigation
- Engage in a wide range of contentious commercial work including Company Law disputes, Employment disputes, Personal Injury and Corporate Insolvency
- Represent the Firm in dealings with other law firms, government, and other professionals and third parties involved with the clients’ affairs
- Participate in networking and business development activities Lead or assist in drafting of precedent documentation
III: Property
- Manage a diverse range of Residential, Commercial and General Property transactions
- Review and prepare conveyances, leases, mortgages, security documents, and other deeds and documents
- Advise clients, with respect to all aspects of Residential, Commercial and General Property law matters
- Lead or assist in the drafting of precedent documentation
IV: Private Client & Trusts
- Receive instruction from clients or other lawyers including professionally recommending and drafting instruments for given matters, involving lawyers in other departments as necessary; and undertake and complete professional work for clients of the Firm
- Settle terms of new engagements
- Review documents prepared by other lawyers and provide comment thereon
- Actively participate in business development and training

THE REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 5-7 years’ PQE in the relevant practice area with strong technical skills and associated specialised knowledge
- Well-developed analytical drafting and negotiating skills
- Advanced skills in practice management, business development, marketing, and relationship management
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Outstanding time management, organisational and presentation skills
- Ability to work successfully in a collaborative environment
- A demonstrated ability to inspire and supervise junior lawyers
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
