Our Client is an American law firm with more than 10 offices worldwide. The London office advises clients on both UK and US law in areas including corporate finance, securities, commercial law & regulatory issues, insurance & reinsurance, bankruptcy & restructuring, and litigation matters.
They are recruiting for a Finance Manager to join the London office. This person will have extensive experience in a managerial position within the Accounts Department of a law firm. The role works to deadlines set by the US office.
The successful candidate will be AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified.
Supervision of the other three members of the Accounts Department.
Prepare salaries spreadsheet for input onto the Elite accounting system.
Prepare quarterly VAT returns and ensure prompt attention to monthly EC sales list.
Monthly bank reconciliations for all office and client accounts. Meeting with partners regarding their WIP and collections.
Maintain all client account transactions in accordance with the Solicitors Accounts Rules, including designated deposit accounts.
Overseeing the billing for the London office to ensure bills are sent out in compliance with the VAT and Solicitors Accounts Rules.
Preparation and processing of some of the more complex London office bills.
Liaising with Billing and Revenue Managers in New York regarding billing and collections for the London office.
Oversee payment of petty cash to staff members. Dealing with requests and queries from the New York office.
Meeting on a monthly basis with the collection agency responsible for bills for insurance and reinsurance clients.
Reconciliation of the collection agency's report against Elite accounting system.
Sending wire payments and inter-account transfers via Barclays Internet banking.
Dealing with accounting queries and assisting Partners, Associates and Secretaries.
Working with New York and the London Head of Administration regarding cost analysis, budgets and forecasts.
Monitoring and reviewing control processes within accounts and making changes where necessary in conjunction with the London Head of Administration.
Performance management and performance reviews for staff in the accounts department.
Various communications with the bank via email, fax or telephone. Any other ad hoc tasks required.
You will be an experienced Finance / Accounts Manager from a law firm.
You will be AAT qualified or ACCA part-qualified.
Knowledge of the Elite accounting system.
Good knowledge of the Solicitors’ Accounts Rules and Anti-Money Laundering requirements.
