My client is a global Sovereign Wealth Fund in search of a mid-level funds lawyer (UK or NY qualified) to advise on legal aspects of secondary transactions in private equity funds for their M&A team which has a range of equity and credit derivative products. As part of your role you will focus on establishing investment funds covering a broad range of funds (e.g. hedge, private equity) involved in providing legal & regulatory advice, review and drafting of contractual documents


The Role
You will advise on legal aspects of secondary transactions in private equity/real estate funds, hedge funds and VC funds, not regulated funds. You will focus on establishing investment funds covering a broad range of funds and involved in providing legal & regulatory advice. Ideally you will have represented both GPs and LPs. You will act as sole Funds Lawyer for the organisation by reviewing and drafting transactional documents to assigned area (funds, M&A, Corporate or as assigned), ensuring thorough assessment, documentation, and supporting the activity through to the closing stage. You will be required to provide through pragmatic commercial legal advice and expertise in order to protect the interests of the organization in situations or decisions with legal consequences. As part of your role you will work closely with other Business units to provide necessary legal advice to help them achieve their goals and to protect the interests of the organisation.

The Candidate
The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of Anglo-Saxon law having obtained a law degree from a highly regarded UK or US University (2.1 minimum). Must have trained with a magic/silver circle law firm or US International firm, having obtained in-house experience from a leading Hedge Fund. The ideal candidate will have at least 2-4 years PQE having gained professional experience in an international law firm or investment banking/asset management environment. Must have 5 years high-calibre exposure in dealing with establishment of investment funds covering a broad range of funds (e.g. hedge, private equity, real estate, distressed etc.) involved in providing legal & regulatory advice, review and drafting of contractual documents. Exposure of providing counsel in a broad range of corporate activities. Experience within GCC market is preferred. Experience of working with international companies present in several jurisdictions is also expected.
