A newly created opportunity for a Corporate Counsel to work for a global retail business to support the UK and EU consumer business team and advise senior leadership on legal and strategic issues. You will work on high value commercial contracts and on a broad range of commercial law issues with elements of compliance and procurement matters. This role will involve some transactional work however the main focus will be advisory.
The Role
You will be responsible for providing commercial and advisory support to their UK consumer business with a crossover of workflow with their European legal team. In time you will develop a skills and knowledge base which will enable you to advise senior leadership on legal and strategic issues. As part of your role you will advise on business transactions ranging from standard vendor agreements to one-off, complex, high value and strategic transactions. The workload offers an interesting focus relating to UK PR, Marketing and Advertising (comparative advertising, product compliance, marketing guidelines, training etc). You will be responsible for advising on copyright and trademark infringement and to provide resolution of legal issues that arise in existing relationships. Proactive planning and advice to the business on regulatory issues impacting the UK business. The resolution of legal issues that arise in existing relationships; and handling pre-litigation legal disputes and inquiries
The Candidate
Must be UK/EU Qualified (minimum 5 yrs PQE) with training from a leading UK or US Law Firm, its imperative that candidates have top class academics (2.1 minimum) with minimal job moves. To be considered you will be innovative, pragmatic with a hands-on approach with strong transactional and regulatory experience. Applicants with online retail experience would be advantageous. For this role you will need excellent teamwork and communication skills with the ability to work autonomously. Applications with an impressive corporate background and EU language skills (not essential) is highly desirable.
