Keepmoat is a fast growing UK housing and construction company. We design, build, refurbish and regenerate places to improve economic and social outcomes for people. Our people are straightforward, passionate, collaborative and creative. Through long term partnerships, we transform land and property into attractive homes that people can afford to buy or rent, and in neighbourhoods where people want to live. In recent years, Keepmoat has been highly successful, and has grown both organically and via acquisition. We are now a billion pound business with a strategy to very much build on the recent successes, and the legal department will consequentially expand to help support our business goals.

The legal department works hard to be placed at the heart of the business. We are now looking to hire an additional lawyer to the established 4 strong legal team, and to take on a role which encompasses construction-related work but also includes diverse commercial legal matters. The broad remit is essentially around helping the business to achieve its objectives through general business support and construction-related agreements. This will entail drafting, negotiating and advising on a range of commercial and construction contracts for standard Employer-led developments as well as more complex Developer and Partnership deals and innovate product development. As well as the core work you will have the opportunity to undertake wider corporate and commercial work, and so will significantly broaden your skillset under the supervision of the more senior members of the team.

It is anticipated that you'll need at least 2-5 years' pqe to have gained the technical ability and business competency to fulfil this role. You'll probably come from a construction or projects background, and as the scope of the role is much broader than that of a typical construction lawyer's role you'll need to be adaptable and willing to learn. You will have the ability to understand the 'bigger commercial picture' for the business as well as individual contracts and your attitude and aptitude will be as important as your technical black letter legal skills. Your ability to communicate across all levels of the business and forge relationships is key, as is a demonstrably pragmatic and commercial mindset. You'll need to be commercially sensible, work well under pressure and be looking to take on genuine responsibility.

At Keepmoat we pride ourselves on being a great place to work. As the market leader in our industry we want to ensure that we attract, motivate and retain the best people who can deliver the best service for our customers. This is an excellent opportunity for committed lawyer from a projects / construction / property background who understand the development cycle from site acquisition to completion and wants to broaden their skill-set in both business and law.
