Principal Patent Attorney

Company: Our global healthcare client with one of the most exciting product pipelines in the industry today seeks a qualified European Patent attorney to assume the role of Principal Patent Attorney, working at corporate HQ in Basel, Switzerland.

Key responsibilities: With a PhD in Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry and a proven track record working in patents in life sciences, you will join an existing team of talented patent attorneys, closing working with the R&D community of our client's businesses. You must have significant experiences in leading the preparation for and oversight of European Patent Oppositions before the EPO in Munich, of handling relationships with external opposition counsel and operating as a strategic business partner in patent opposition matters. This role reports directly into the Head of Patent Litigation ex US who is also based at corporate HQ.

Background sought: To qualify you must have 5-10 years of relevant experiences in patent matters in the life sciences industry either at a patent law firm or in-house as well as 4-6 years of relevant experience in EPO work. You will operate as a senior member of our client's team so you will be comfortable managing senior management interaction, be a subject matter expert and show strong leadership skills as well as the ability to coach and mentor junior PAs. You must have led on more than 15 oppositions before the EPO and have fluent written and oral English language skills.
