Core-Asset Consulting's client, a leading investment management firm in Edinburgh, has a new opportunity for an In-House Lawyer to join its Governance, Legal & Company Secretarial department.
The successful candidate will assist with the management of all aspects of legal, governance, and company secretarial matters across multiple jurisdictions in which the business operates, with a particular focus on regulatory development. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with various stakeholders across the business while being part of a very friendly and supportive Legal Team.
Core responsibilities:
- Provide general advice on all aspects of legal and reputational risk on day to day matters
- Draft/review and negotiate a wide variety of legal documents, including investment management agreements and commercial contracts
- Provide legal advice on the life-cycle of funds
- Establish excellent working relationships with lawyers in the team and external counsel
- Act as company secretary to internal/external boards as required; assist the Company Secretary with day to day matters and enhance the group's governance framework
- Lead and oversee the regulatory horizon scanning process for all markets in which the business operates and carry out training on regulatory developments
- Assist with projects and advise on the development of new products
Essential:
- Admitted as a Solicitor Scotland or England (or equivalent overseas qualification) with a current practising certificate
- Credible and confident in dealings with senior management
- Proficient in multi-jurisdictional work
- Good technical understanding of the UK regulatory regime and experience of implementing regulatory change projects
- Demonstrates effective stakeholder management and exceptional client service
- Excellent planning and organisational skills with ability to prioritise and be flexible
Desirable:
- Demonstrable experience gained in the asset management industry, ideally from an in-house or leading law firm
- Specific experience in the fund life-cycle and restructuring
- Experience with ISDA negotiations and knowledge of derivatives is desirable
