Legal Counsel

Vital Energi seeks to recruit a commercial / construction solicitor to work as In-house Legal Counsel at its headquarters in Blackburn, Lancashire. Vital Energi is an innovative provider of efficient and low carbon energy management and power generation solutions. The company is experiencing rapid growth and this newly created legal role is an exciting opportunity for a junior lawyer to join and ambitious, innovative an expanding business.

We are one of the UK's market leaders in the expanding Heat and Power Solutions sector, and we provide a full design, install, operation and maintenance service across the public / private residential, retail and commercial sectors.

The company is experiencing rapid growth and due to this continued expansion, we are seeking to expand our in-house legal team with the addition of a junior In-house Legal Counsel. The role is to be based at our head office in Blackburn, Lancashire, and the post-holder will report into our Group Solicitor.

This In-house Legal Counsel role is an exciting opportunity for someone to join the existing legal function in an ambitious and expanding business. The role will make a great first in-house move for a junior lawyer looking to work in a supportive but fast paced environment.

Within the role, you will be working in the Commercial team to support and assist the Group Lawyer with contract and tender reviews (predominantly standard form construction contracts and O&M agreements); drafting and negotiating commercial documents; helping to manage contractual risk; providing advice to key stakeholders on contractual issues, disputes and general enquiries; and assisting with giving legal training to the Commercial team.

Applications are invited from 0-2 years' PQE commercial solicitors, ideally with experience and/or knowledge of construction law contracts - NEC3, JCT etc. You should have solid legal training from a leading law firm and/or in-house department, and you must be comfortable and capable of working in a fast-paced and straight talking family run business.
