Legal Counsel

This is an ideal role for a candidate seeking to make their first move In House. It will cover a wide variety of legal and corporate governance matters on behalf of the organisation throughout Europe. The responsibilities for this role will include, but not be limited too;

• Drafting, negotiating and advising on all types of commercial contracts (such as confidentiality, marketing, agency, consultancy, sponsorship, outsourcing, franchising, logistics etc)
• Compliance and regulatory matters, including anti-bribery, competition, data protection and modern slavery;
• Consumer law and e-commerce;
• Marketing and advertising law
• Proactively identify arising risk areas and work with the business to develop risk mitigation solutions.
• Support and advise on tender processes across the business and support the creation of precedent contracts for use by Procurement department.
• Assist with corporate governance matters such as a yearly assessment of risk, ethics and compliance, as well as monitoring progress in these areas.
• Stay abreast and up to date on all developments in relevant areas of law.

The ideal candidate for this role will be/have;

• Qualified solicitor in the UK with at least 3 years' PQE.
• In-house exposure - this is highly desirable to this role.
• A sound understanding of all aspects of commercial law and an ability to apply that knowledge pragmatically in a business environment.
• Data protection and IT law experience
• Experience of working on/managing matters with a cross border and foreign jurisdiction element, and managing external legal counsel.
