Key responsabilites:

  • Key jurisdictional responsibility: UK
  • Key industries and product segments: retail automotive financing, dealer automotive floor plan financing, and insurance mediation activity.
  • Key legal practice areas: general FCA / Consumer Credit Act regulations, consumer finance, commercial lending and secured transactions, general automotive finance, insurance mediation, insolvency, general commercial and contract, compliance (data protection, anti-money laundering, general banking and insurance mediation), company secretary, competition.
  • Provision of legal advice to operations in UK especially on FCA/Consumer Credit Act regulations and consumer protection law, general commercial law and finance law in general and insolvency law.
  • Support to global and pan-European projects within the IO legal team
  • Managing and facilitating the work of external counsel with a focus on cost efficiency.
  • Support and provide legal advice to the other Global Functions to ensure ongoing adherence to all relevant compliance regulations that may govern the UK operations and complete all regulatory knowledge training where applicable in a timely fashion.

Ideal candidate:

  • UK Law Qualifications (ie qualified solicitor / barrister).
  • Minimum of 2 years PQE (looking up to 5 years PQE).
  • English fluency.
  • General knowledge of compliance laws/regulations impacting finance companies required.
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with key consumer/commercial finance regulations.
  • Familiarity with secured transactions and corporate governance matters.
  • Aptitude for managing legal issues/projects and reporting accountabilities within a larger legal staff operation.
  • Integrity & trust, business acumen, able to deal with ambiguity, drives for results, good interpersonal skills, good at building peer relationships, demonstrated decision quality.

Deserable:

  • UK industry experience in asset finance gained in private practice or industry (Preferably through the automotive finance industry).
  • Strong knowledge and experience in credit activities and regulated markets.
