In house Commercial Counsel

My client is an established North East business with a diverse portfolio of interests, and an interesting range of complex and international legal matters that need to be dealt with.

Over recent years, the legal team has continued to grow, and is now looking to make an additional hire. The main remit of this position will focus on a range of high value general commercial contracts, often with an international flavour, and there will additionally be involvement with major projects, litigation, joint ventures, mergers and strategic initiatives on an ad hoc basis.

You'll report into the Legal Director, and take on a highly commercial legal role, which will incorporate significant exposure to the senior management team. To be successful in this role, you will need to be lawyer with a track record in contracts, corporate, projects, litigation or banking background, ideally gained at a major commercial law firm or well respected in house team.

We are looking for an individual with a positive 'can do' attitude who shows the ability to adapt in a commercially driven environment. You will be pragmatic and commercially minded, and to be comfortable in a fast moving and dynamic business. You will also need excellent inter-personal skills and a demonstrable ability to work effectively as part of a team. Additionally, the business uses the support of a number of external law firms and so you will need to be adept at instructing external counsel.
