Unique role working as a Group Innovation Manager with a legal top 50 Law firm- this role can be based in Aberdeen, Birmingham, Edinburgh, Glasgow or Manchester and will involve working as part of a larger national group. 

 

 

Role Profile:

 The firm has an ambitious programme in place to deliver transformative legal service delivery solutions across the Transactional Services Group for and with their clients. 

The Group Innovation Manager will be responsible for the development, delivery and management of the innovation programme across the Transactional Services Group, and will co-ordinate communication and collaboration across all key stakeholders within the Transactional Services Group and the firm more widely.

The role is also responsible for taking innovations to key clients, working with and across the sectors to ensure that their major relationships and targets are benefiting from their range of solutions.

This programme which needs to be driven and managed by a proactive, forward thinking individual who is determined and committed to changing the way legal services are delivered. The responsibilities will include: 

  • Working closely with the Transactional Services teams and fee earners (in the UK and across other offices), as well as clients directly, to:

○      Analyse legal process and client requirements in order to identify opportunities for improved legal service delivery through new or existing solutions (whether technological or otherwise); and

○      Assist with the development and implementation of strategies and programmes for Transactional Services teams. 

  • Lead the Transactional Services Innovation Hub made up from from each Transactional Services team (including international representatives).
  • Facilitate the collation of innovation ideas and feedback from each Transactional Services team (across all international offices), and share team initiatives and success stories at group level. 
  • Assemble and manage project teams for the development and delivery of solutions (whether business or client facing) for each Transactional Services team in line with their strategy and priorities.
  • Analyse ways of combining technology (whether developed in-house or off-the-shelf) with legal process in order to create systems that increase efficiency and value for our clients and fee earners.
  • Identify, specify and model business requirements and use cases for the development of technology and/or innovative solutions.
  • Where appropriate, work closely with the Client Technology, Knowledge Engineering and R&D teams to transform detailed requirements into a systems design.
  • Managing the delivery and launch of new solutions, including testing, training, marketing (internal and external), establishing success metrics, collating feedback and coordinating on-going improvement and maintenance.
  • Handling change management and raising the awareness, reputation and profile of solutions amongst the Transactional Services teams, including presenting at team meetings/away days.
  • Proactively identifying clients and targets to whom we should market our innovations, and identifying areas of work we may be in a position to compete for given products.
  • Delivering live demonstrations of our solutions and technology and helping to market solution, including writing marketing copy, relevant content for pitches and proposals and working with the Client Technology team to scope, price and implement solutions.
  • Monitoring the LegalTech market for potential developments for products that might assist the TS group, and working with the central team to arrange demos and pilots, and assisting in any resulting procurement processes.
  • Attending legal technology and innovation industry events.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Previous experience working as a lawyer within a transactional team (Corporate, Commercial, Employment, EU & Competition or Tax), either in private practice or in-house.
  • Previous experience of legal process mapping and improvement is desirable.
  • Previous experience of delivering innovation and transformation in legal service delivery is desirable.
  • Previous experience of implementing legal technology solutions to improve legal service delivery is desirable.
  • Proven experience with client/stakeholder communication and relationship management.
  • A deep understanding of the work of the transactional services teams.
  • Strong technological skills and a logical mind.
  • Track record of managing multiple overlapping projects and workstreams.
  • A passion for finding new ways of working and a desire to embrace change.
  • Advanced written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to internal and external stakeholders of a variety of levels.
