A vacancy has arisen for a Paralegal to work in the civil litigation team in our client’s St Austell office. This is a full time opportunity working 9am-5.15pm Monday to Friday.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone committed to a long term Paralegal career. You will be responsible for both fee earning and administration duties including assisting with new matter enquiries by telephone, email and face-to-face meetings with clients. You will attend client meetings with other lawyers in the team, prepare notes of meetings and related documentation, undertake research and provide general assistance with litigation and other work in the department. You will assist with a varied civil litigation caseload particularly contentious probate work and property litigation although assistance with other work areas such as contract, negligence and company/business disputes is likely.

You will be expected to be self-supporting, and in that regard, you will need a good typing speed and good ICT skills. You will be expected to be able to produce written advice of a high standard although all work will be supervised and checked by the supervising lawyer.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and a focus on exceptional client care. You will have an excellent academic record and a good working knowledge of civil law, particularly contract negligence and nuisance. Candidates with working knowledge of land law and wills, probate and trusts will be at an advantage.

You will be highly organised, accurate, proactive and committed to meeting deadlines while remaining calm under pressure. Excellent all-round communication skills, professional telephone manner and attention to detail is essential.

Ideally you will have a law degree (or equivalent) and LPC with a Private Client and/or Commercial Litigation elective. Previous experience of litigation procedure would be an advantage and you will need to have a flexible approach and the ability to work within a team environment.

In return, you will be offered a competitive salary, 25 days’ holiday per year, life assurance and private medical insurance schemes. Their employees also benefit from their employee share ownership scheme.
