Plexus Law Overview

Plexus Law is a Specialist Defendant Insurance Practice with offices in London, Manchester, Leeds, Evesham, Liverpool and associated offices in Scotland. The firm works with insurance companies, corporate and public sector clients and the Lloyd’s market.

You will have a professional attitude, excellent communication skills and take pride in your accuracy.  You need a speed in excess of 65wpm and ideally have worked as a Legal Typist, although we will consider candidates from a medico-legal or professional services background.  Equally if you are familiar with legal terminology, particularly relating to personal injury or litigation, we would love to hear from you

Purpose of Role

To provide administrative support to fee earning partners, taking control of their time management and developing an understanding of their role to pro-actively offer support to enable them to work as efficiently as possible.

Main Duties

Dealing with email correspondence; Filing, scanning and faxing to include chasing experts, CRU, witnesses etc; Dealing with telephone calls (both internally and externally); Travel booking; Diary management, including meeting bookings and Court dates/counsel; Gathering, recording and analysing of client MI; Administering the Case Management system and maintaining other office systems; Responsible for financial transactions such as assisting in the preparation of bills,  cheque requests, cheque cancellations and dealing with expenses submissions for approval; Responsible for liaison with Finance team to field queries/work in progress write offs/time narrative, credit control, liaison with Compliance and Audit teams and liaison with Central Inception team; Carrying out typing work when required to do so.  

Knowledge and Skills

  • Experienced Team supervision;
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic office procedures and terminology;
  • Be able to complete routine and non-routine tasks in an office environment;
  • Be able to plan and organise both familiar and new tasks;
  • Be able to use a problem-solving approach to respond appropriately to a wide range of enquiries;
  • Can produce and respond to detailed written and oral communication in an office setting;
  • Can use standard applications to process, obtain and combine information;
  • Be able to work using own initiative or with others on tasks with minimum supervision;
  • Show an awareness of others’ roles, responsibilities and requirements when carrying out your work.

    Qualifications required

  • Essential

  • Typing skills – 65 wpm
  • Experience of supervising a team
  • GCSE/O Level – English Language and Mathematics (A-C)
  • Experience within a legal/insurance 
  • Administrative environment (1 year)
  • Good standard of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Desirable:

  • Case management experience
  • Telephone call handling experience
